Ismael Martinez-Huertas

by Alcira Vega from Modesto, California in United States

137161Ismael Martinez-HuertasAlcira (Shortie) Vega I’m 30 years old; I met my hero at the age of 16. That’s 14 years ago.

My hero was brave, kind, humble & so much more. He was our rock. Never once did I see him scared. He taught me things that’s no one else ever will.

He loved me in a way no one else will.

I love him in the way that only a women could ever love her husband, and only a women who truly loves her husband would understand. Every challenge life threw his way, he Defeated and Conquered.

At the age of 17 we were blessed with a child. Late night feedings, and burpings on a rocking chair. He taught our son how to catch, taught him his homework, and I’ll never forget the late night fire pit talks they would have. He taught him fear and trust at the same time; that one time, on that roller coaster you both went on, how scared our son was and Daddy said to him, “I got you, I'm never gonna let you go!"

“I love you Dad,” that was the response our son said to his Hero, his Dad.

He loved unconditionally!

See, the battle of becoming a father at a young age was Defeated.

No longer was he only my hero but instead our hero. He was smart as heck; he loved working as an EMT in NJ. Not just a hero to his family but to other people too...

He worked hard for us. He would do whatever it took to provide for his family.

Late nights,

Early mornings,

Some sleep,

No sleep,

Tiered or

Not tired,

Whatever it took.

He made sure we were always first.

So the battle to provide for his family was Defeated.

At the age of 25 we were blessed with another child, and once again diaper changes, burping, and trying not to fall asleep while trying to rock a baby to sleep... the greatest times go so fast. From teaching him how to walk, to teaching him how to brush his teeth, to using tools, washing our cars, when we’d go to the zoo, oh how you’d teach him animal names. Even teaching him how to pray at the dinner table.

He loved us unconditionally.

See, now the challenge of starting over, and putting aside your own desires to be a dad again, now that’s hard, but that battle was Defeated.

We moved to California for change and better life. “Life is so fragile.” That’s what they say, without realizing how every moment, every second, every hour truest is.

At the age of 30, he worked in the city of Riverbank in CA. He was a driver for a sanitation company. He worked hard and always kept the routes given to him clean and well maintained! On August 26th, 2019 he was called; for his time had come. He defeated every battle life threw his way. His mission here on earth had been completed; for he had Conquered the challenges that were thrown to him.

Patiently and Faithfully that is a hero moves!!

We are who we are today, thanks to our Hero. Our Rock. My Husband. Our Best Friend. Our Right and Left, Our so much more. He taught me to keep moving forward no matter the situation. To be strong mentally and physically, especially in our love.

For, all those years of Love we put into out relationship will never wither nor fade away; that the word love cannot be defeated; rather the word love can defeat all, and Love is all it takes!

Our Hero will Always remain in our Hearts! Thank you for everything you have done and taught us, I Love You, We Love You, Until we meet again.

Rest In Peace,

Ismael Martinez-Huertas
