***"Everyone is necessarily the hero of his own life story." -John Barth**** ******"Sometimes I'm so sweet even I can't stand it."-Julie Andrews******* Julie is my own personal hero because she has accomplished so much in her life. The lastest news is Julie may never be able to sing again, but she has not given up her hope that one day she will sing again. She is my greatest inspiration.
Real Name: Julia Wells~ Occupation: Actress, Singer~ Date of Birth: October 1, 1935~ Place of Birth: Walton-on-Thames, England, U.K.~
Julie Andrews was a child star in her parents' music-hall act in London. At nineteen, she landed on Broadway in The Boy Friend. Two years later, the wholesome soprano achieved instant glory as Eliza Doolittle in the 1956 Broadway smash My Fair Lady. In 1964, Andrews was back on top: she pulled down an Oscar for Mary Poppins, and then starred in The Sound of Music, one of the top-grossing pictures of all time.
In the late seventies and early eighties, she starred in 10 and Victor/Victoria (directed by her husband), which were both hits. She later reprised her Victor/Victoria role on Broadway, and created an act of caring for others when she refused her Tony nomination because she felt the rest of the cast had been overlooked.
