by VeraI chose Jackie Robinson because I love sports and he was the first black person to play a professional sport, especially baseball. My book is a biography book. If you don't know what that means, it's when a writer writes about someone's life. This book is 48 pages long. The book I am reading covers his whole life.
by VeraJackie Robinson was born on January 31,1919. Jackie was born in Cairo, Georgia, United States. Jackie grew up in Pasadena, California, near Los Angeles. Jackie grew up in a family of five children. His mom did not earn so much money, so Jackie learned to make his own way in life. Jackie went to John Muir High School and Pasadena Junior College. Jackie was interested in playing sports. He was the youngest of the five children, and his father left them. Mack Robinson was Jackie's older brother. Mack influenced Jack a lot. Jackie was a really good athlete when he was younger. He was good at running when he was older. Jackie's dad left when he was little, so he had to live without a dad.
By VeraJackie had to learn to do stuff himself since his mom was poor. Mac, his brother, influenced him to play sports. When I learned about Jackie, I was surprised because he was the first black person to play in the Brooklyn Dodgers, and it made me sad when I learned they made fun of him for it. if I met Jackie for the first time, the three questions I would ask him are: Did you join the Brooklyn Dodgers because you got paid or did you do it 'cause you wanted to play? Did you want to play for the Giants? Did you like your teammates on the Giants? I wouldn't want to be his child because he wouldn't have any time for me because he's always playing baseball. I didn't really like the book because it didn't give that much information about Jackie. I learned from the book that his dad left when he was young and that his role model was his older brother Mack Robinson. He played sports. Some things I have in common with Jackie is that I love playing sports. I don't think that others will like the book because they won't learn much. I am glad that I chose this person 'cause I love sports and I think he is pretty cool. I think he a good role model because even when he got bullied, he didn't give up and didn't get angry.
