https://vulcanpost.com/606898/amazon-jeff-bezos-entrepreneurship-lessons/“One of the only ways to get out of a tight box is to invent your way out” were the words of a great inventor and businessman. His name is Jeff Preston Bezos. He achieved many milestones such as creating the famous Amazon, and established Blue Origin. Bezos was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1964. While growing up, Bezos would go to Texas to help at his grandfather's ranch by fixing windmills or anything broken. He was a natural at fiddling with things. He once took his crib apart at the age of three just because he wanted to sleep in a real bed. When Bezos grew up, he got a job at D.E. Shaw & Co. and he eventually became the youngest senior vice president. Later, he quit to move to Seattle to pursue his lifelong dream of building his own company. He chose Seattle because it’s so close to Ingram’s warehouse and had many great technology professionals. Bezos wanted Amazon to become an online library. Slowly, he started to expand his enterprise by adding toys, music and much more. Sadly, his company didn’t suddenly boom and become popular. He had various obstacles in his way but gradually he began to overcome them. Jeff Bezos is a real hero because he continues to persevere and innovate.
https://nypost.com/2018/11/17/inside-amazons-jeff-bezos-meteoric-rise-to-riches/Jeff Bezos’ Amazon wasn’t always successful. When Bezos first started his company, he did it in his garage. He didn’t have much money but fortunately for him, he didn’t have to pay for a building because Amazon was online. Even though he was being held back by the size and lack of money, he continued pushing on. Bezos’ undying determination for Amazon let it expand into an empire: In 2000 Bezos and his company were put to the ultimate test. At a time when many dot-com companies were going out of business, Amazon's stock price fell from $106 in December 1999 to $41.50 in September 2000. To deal with this crisis, Bezos was forced to lay off 1,300 employees in February 2001. He also cut back on products, eliminating those that had yet to prove profitable for the company. "In 2001 Amazon formed an agreement with Borders to provide inventory, order fulfillment, and customer service for Borders.com..." Amazon not only survived the crisis of 2000 but flourished. For the fourth quarter of 2003 the company posted a net income of $73.2 Million. ("Jeff Bezos.") Internationally, Bezos continued to persevere even when everything looked lost. With his perseverance the company incessantly grew. When the stocks plummeted to $41.50, many lost hope but Bezos didn't. He pushed the company forward and the the net income became $73.2 million in 2003. The company Bezos once started in a garage turned a giant enterprise.
Bezos’s personal early life wasn’t too smooth and sadly, not all the problems happened when he was an adult. When he was born, his mother was just a teenage girl. “Jeff Bezos was born on January 12, 1964, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to a teenage mother, Jacklyn Gise Jorgensen, and his biological father, Ted Jorgensen. The Jorgensens were married less than a year, and when Bezos was 4 years old his mother re-married, to Cuban immigrant Mike Bezos.” (“Jeff Bezos.” Biography.com). Not only did Bezos have a teenage mother but he also had divorced parents. Bezos didn’t have the best childhood but because of that undying determination he has, he was able to push past and achieve so much. Bezos ability of being able to pull himself out of hopeless situations and never giving up makes him a tremendous hero. He uses his perseverance to become a hero.
https://time.com/4728193/jeff-bezos-amazon-space-blue-origin/“I believe you have to be willing to be misunderstood if your going to innovate” were the encouraging words of Jeff Bezos. He was trying to inspire people to innovate even if other people disagree with your innovation. Bezos tries to help people by innovating thing too: “Bezos also bought innovative features to Amazon.com that were soundly and technologically based, such as one-click shopping and forums that allowed readers to post positive and negative reviews of product. All could be speedily executed by customers wishing to purchase product quickly. Bezos insisted that kind of information offered on the web site (even negative reviews) was crucial for customers.” ("Jeff Bezos." Business ). Innovative features such as one-click shopping helps everyone shop with ease. Also he added a feature where users could comment on the products and leave either negative and positive reviews. For instance, when you go to a shop and buy something you will never know whether it is worth it or not until you really try it, but on Amazon you could read the reviews and see if it’s something you want. Bezos’ innovations help people do thing easily and quickly. These innovations were not the only ones: “In 2006, Amazon.com launched its video on demand service; initially known as AmazonUnbox on TiVo, it was eventually rebranded as Amazon Instant Video. In 2007, the company released the Kindle, a handheld digital book reader that allowed users to buy, download, read and store their book selections.” Bezos created the Amazon Instant Video which allows you to watch videos at home instantly instead of going out to buy or rent DVDs. Amazon lets you do things easily at home. Because of these innovations, life has been easier for everyone. A hero is a person who tries to help people through real innovations, which makes Bezos a hero.
Jeff Bezos is a real hero because he keeps on introducing new things to help people and he never gives up no matter how problematic the situation may appear. A true hero never gives in when they have fallen. They keep on getting back up to fight crime again. Jeff Bezos holds the characteristics of a hero because he will withstand anything coming at him and keep on getting back up. Bezos undying determination is not the only trait he holds. He is also willing to change Amazon just for the people’s confort by spending his freetime to make Amazon better. By these 2 traits of many, Bezos have inspired me by introducing the fact of there’s always a future. “If you decide that you’re going to do only the things you know are going to work, you’re going to leave a lot of opportunity on the table.” Jeff Bezos quote describes how you have power over what you chose but are you willing to risk everything for a greater future. He successfully traveled down the risky road to a better future. By doing the impossible, Jeff Bezos is a true inspiration to me. He didn’t pull a rabbit out of his hat once. He also created Blue Origin which their rockets were able to land. Bezos creates hope for humankind by showing them the impossible was possible. He’s even trying to send humans to space. Jeff Bezos was able to break many boundaries however, some boundaries cannot be broken by brute force. Bezos broke those boundaries with only his imagination and hard work. Bezos was tired of the tight box so he invented his way out of it’s restricted area.
