Jack Johnson

Jack Johnson was born in Hawaii on May 18, 1975. He is a Grammy winner and a recording artist, but it wasn't always like that.

When he was 14 he started to play the guitar as a hobbie. He learned to play Metallica and other bands' songs. He was influenced by Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Tribe called Quest, Otis Redding and Ben Harper, Nick Drake, and the Beatles.

After high school he attended the Univeristy of California, Santa Barbara where he got a degree in film. He started out making surf films and made up his own songs for them. People who saw the videos kept on asking if there was going to be a soundtrack because the songs were really good. He finally made one and a recording company heard it and signed him.

Then he came out with 4 more albums, 11 singles, 1 DVD, and he won a Grammy. Jack Johnson is my hero because he writes and sings songs that he feels, not what he thinks.
