Josh Sundquist

Josh Sundquist was born on August 6, 1984, which means he is 35 years old now. He was born and raised in Charlottesville, VA. His family are all Christians and they are very religious. He also went to Sunday school for most of his childhood. He is also the only child in his family. His dad is very strict, and he made Josh be homeschooled until high school because of his condition. Josh finally persuaded his mom and dad to go to public school, but Josh’s Dad didn’t like that he would be going to public school because he thought that Josh will get bullied from only having one leg from cancer. Josh's mom is very supportive and nice but also strict too. She helps him do homework if he needs it. She is also always there for him when he needs her the most. When Josh has problems with his leg condition, they are always there for him.

The two most interesting moments in his childhood and teen years are when Josh got his left leg amputated when he was 9 years old from cancer and he tried hiding it in high school so nobody would know that his leg was missing. “There is no way to tell I had a prosthesis, I put my head down and kept walking” (Sundquist 58) and when Josh played truth or dare on a bus going to religion camp and one of Josh’s friends asked a girl (Sarah Stevens) if she liked Josh. “Sarah Stevens would pick truth I knew she would” (Sundquist 9).  

The two most interesting moments in his adulthood are when he went out with the girl he dated for 23 hours: “I arrived before Sarah Stevens it had be ten years since we 'went out' for 23 hours” (Sundquist 41) and when Josh made his first move to hang out with a girl in high school. Also, he had to learn all of the old things he knew before he got his leg amputated, and he did a great job in my opinion. Josh is special because he got his leg amputated up to his hip and he learned all like a normal person would with two legs, and he looks like he never got his leg amputated.

Josh Sundquist can be a hero because even with his amputated leg, he never gets that to his head and he continues on with his life as anyone would with two legs. One important career of Josh Sundquist's life is how he is a motivational speaker and inspires people around the whole entire world. Josh Sundquist is still alive. He is an American Paralympian in skiing, a bestselling author, and a motivational speaker, and he speaks to people around the world.
