Julia Roberts by Sarah from Victoria, Canada

   For decades, Julia Roberts has been a staple of Hollywood. My portrait, in honor of America’s Sweetheart, is the classic red dress that launched her to international fame in ‘Pretty Woman’.Julia Roberts can be looked at as a role model due to her strong character. She demonstrates her strong personal morals by staying true to her ‘small-town Georgia’ personality through the ups and downs of her very public life. Her dress has been set on a stage, much like the stage she created for the new comers of Hollywood.   

   To create her dress, I mixed art mediums of marker and pencil crayon. I used red marker for the dress and writing, as well as black marker for the black writing, border,and mannequin. To add texture to her dress, I went back over the dress with red pencil crayon and added white pencil crayon to create depth within where the dress folds over.
