They don’t have the money, and I heard that there is a lot of money on you……”. A six-year-old little girl wrote a letter with her team to one of America’s richest men. She is Katherine Commale, who raises money for mosquito nets and protects millions of Africans from malaria.

The idea of donating mosquito nets came to Katherine’s mind when she was only five years old. She watched a documentary about Africa, which mentioned that on average, every 30 seconds one child dies of malaria there. This made her astonished, but it also motivated her to do something to save their lives. Therefore, Katherine started raising money for mosquito nets in order to protect Africans from suffering from malaria. She sent nets to Africa through an organization called Nothing But Nets. By making hand-decorated certificates with her family and giving them to those who donated money, Katherine inspired people to join her. Her story has been posted on the website of Nothing But Nets. People all over the world were touched by her sympathy, which went beyond age and race. Donations were pouring in from around the world.

She and her friends wrote letters to the rich who were on the list of The World’s Billionaires, hoping they could contribute money. After receiving the letter, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation declared that it would donate three million dollars to Nothing But Nets. Additionally, the foundation invested in filming a public welfare documentary to have more people know Katherine’s good deeds. Thanks to Katherine, the frequency of African children who die of malaria today has decreased to one person every 120 seconds.

Katherine's kindness urged her to influence the world even though she was only a little girl. She showed that everyone can change the world into a better place regardless of their age.
