The stadium is shaking as the team has just won the Champions League. Everyone is looking at the one person who is responsible for all this, Lionel Messi. Messi is an incredibly valued player and, therefore, without him the team would be nothing. Messi was born in Rosario, Argentina into a family with very little money. His main focus is soccer and with the passion he has for the sport he was able to achieve greatness. At the age of 11, his soccer career got worse since he was diagnosed with a growth hormone deficiency. His parents didn’t have enough money to pay for his treatments, so they relied on him becoming a good soccer player so he could have a good life. Messi persevered and that same year he was given the opportunity to go to Fc Barcelona with the addition of his treatment payments. He uses his perseverance to spread joy around the world to many children that have a hard life. Messi is a hero because of his perseverance to overcome his deficiency and build his soccer skills and his help towards children that are going through a similar, rough childhood.

Messi proves that anything is possible from starting poor and becoming rich to having a deficiency and becoming an amazing athlete. He believes that he can fulfill his dream of becoming a soccer player and in doing so saves his family from the pressure of working hard in which, he succeeded. He uses his confidence in his abilities to help him persevere and become a selfless honorable athlete. Messi is a deserving hero because he perseveres through his rough life to become a great soccer player. When Messi got accepted into the club (Fc Barcelona) at the age of 13, everyone around him doubted his abilities and talent. He was the shortest and weakest player on the field, but after he got his treatments he showed the world what he is capable of doing. He got pulled up to the higher teams and continued working hard until he became the best: “In his debut season in 2004-2005, Messi became the youngest goal scorer for FC Barcelona in La Liga. He has since won five La Liga titles and has been named FIFA World Player of the Year (the Ballon d'Or trophy) three times. Messi was doubted by everyone at his age, but he ignored all the criticism and worked his way to being the best. Other people at his age level would just give up and leave the club if they were in his position, but unlike them Messi did not give up. Messi’s perseverance to get his way to top level shows others that they can do the same. At a soccer club, people like Messi were doubted because of their height. Nobody has seen or thought of a player of that size going to top level soccer. He heard this about him many times, but instead of putting himself down he used it to persevere so he could prove everyone wrong. Through Messi’s perseverance, he had got much fame and wealth, which he uses to help others persevere towards their dreams.

In 2010 Messi was offered the job of becoming the ambassador of the organization UNICEF. Messi’s compassion gives many other kids the chance to live their life. After taking the job as an ambassador, he decided to make his organization called the Leo Messi Foundation. Every once in a while, Messi would give a huge amount of money through his own company to the organization, UNICEF, to help children that are sick or disadvantaged: “Leo Messi Foundation helped UNICEF to install 20 prefabricated classrooms in Syria” (“12 Messi Charity”). Messi used his money to good use as he helped children in need. Messi spent this money on something that might actually make a permanent change in the world instead of something temporary and useless. Messi is a deserving hero since he is very giving towards children that need support. Many people like Messi, are very rich and are very popular around the world in the name of sports. They would spend a majority of their money on items that make no difference to the world, just for decoration or more popularity. Messi, unlike these people, spends a part of his money on children, which they might follow in his footsteps and actually grow to become someone very successful. He shows his compassion and gives other children what they need to be successful.
