Marsha P. Johnson

by Gabriella Nicholson from Massachusetts

Marsha P. Johnson was a transgender woman who found joy in the world even when there was none. She was a gay liberation activist who fought for many. She and a close friend created a group called Star. This group was for young trans people who were homeless and not accepted. Marsha played a huge part in the Stonewall riots. When the police got violent, she and other patrons of the neighborhood fought back. These riots are one of the most important events in the history of the gay liberation movement.
