He was a hero because he fought for the African American people who were suffering from discrimination. In 1955, Martin helped organize the first major protest of the African-American civil rights movement. He had an amazing famous speech, "I have a dream," and he won Noble Prize for peace. Martin was brave and strong. Sadly, he was shot to death by a hater and he was only 39 years old.
