I think a hero is kind, brave and determined. First, being determined is important because you get back up again. Like if you break a bone you keep on going! You need to be brave because if you are brave like Malala Yousafzai, you don’t run away; you face your fears. Another thing is you need to be kind like Martin Luther King Jr. Because if you are not kind, no one will trust you. I think if you are determined that’s the most important one. When you are determined, you keep on going no matter what. For example, Martin Luther King Jr. was determined when he was protesting.

Martin Luther King Jr. was a civil rights activist. He brought blacks and whites together. He made a speech in front of the world and he persuaded people to treat blacks and whites the same. He didn’t give up no matter what happened. People threw bricks at him, put him in jail, but he kept on going.

Martin Luther King Jr. was born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 15, 1929. He graduated in 1948 and then he met Coretta Scott and they were married a year later. Then he started work in Montgomery. After that he visited the White House. In 1963 he got arrested for a protest and was in jail for two weeks. Then in 1963, he spoke at the March on Washington. He was arrested again for eating at an whites only restaurant. Then in 1964 he won the Nobel Peace Prize. In 1965 he led people again in a march to protest unfair laws. He was killed by a man with a gun on April 4, 1968.

The most important thing in his life was when he made the speech called ‘I have a Dream’ because it changed the world. Now black people and white people are treated the same.

One challenge Martin Luther King Jr. faced was that he was treated unfairly because of his skin color. He overcame this challenge by leading a peaceful protest. The biggest challenge was when he was arrested a couple of times.

I think Martin Luther King Jr. is a hero because he's kind, brave and determined. I think he was kind because he walked with kids during a March. He showed determination when people threw bricks at him and he kept on going. He showed that he was brave because he made a speech in front of the world. That is why Martin Luther King Jr. is a hero.
