Tonga is made up of 170 islands. The people of Tonga are not the richest like in other countries. Even though Tonga is not rich the people are very happy and have pride in their country. Anything with Tonga they have pride in it.

Tongan people are also very passionate about sports, mostly contact sports like rugby. Sadly Most Tongans who are very talented in rugby they mostly go to a different team other than the Tongan national team (Mate Maa Tonga and Ikale Tahi)

    The World Cup of 2017 was one of the best performances of Mate Maa Tonga. A lot of rugby players who are Tongan have joined the Mate Maa Tonga team. Amazing rugby players who have decided to play for Tonga are players like Andrew Fifita, Konrad Hurrl, and the fan favorite Jason Taumalolo. They have left teams that pay thousands, even millions, to play for the country where their family came from.

In the past, the Tongan team didn't have enough money to play at an actual stadium or training center. They had to train at a park. Also in the past they had to stay at dirty hotels.

     The Tongan team did a very excellent job in the World Cup. They beat a lot of very good teams but the really big team they beat was Fiji Bati and the All Blacks. They also made a very good comeback in the semi finals when they played England but they weren't able to win. Even though they didn't win the World Cup they won the hearts of the people of Tonga and made everyone, the people and their families, proud and that's what counts.
