Martin Luther King, Jr. was a famous black man, who had a dream. His dream was to be free, to have rights, and to make people's lives happier around the world. He wrote and presented the famous speech called, "I Have a Dream." Martin Luther King, Jr. had the ability, determination and power to change people's lives around the world. He gave them freedom and a right to live.
Martin Luther King, Jr. was born on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia. He died when James Earl Ray shot him from a balcony at the Lorraine Motel on April 4th, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee. He was only 39 when he was killed.
When Martin Luther King, Jr. was doing all he could, people got angry. When he was presenting his speech, "I Have A Dream," on January 30, his house was blown up. Luckily, Martin Luther King, Jr.'s wife and his child escaped before the bomb went off. A crowd of black people got really upset about what happened to his home. Policemen came to try to fix the problem, but they were outnumbered. Martin Luther King had been trying to stop violence, so he stopped them from using their guns, and he sent them back to their houses.
Before his death, he made many changes in the world. Martin Luther King Jr. stopped racism in the United States of America. He led a black boycott in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1958. Martin Luther King, Jr. organized a Southern Christian Leadership Conference. In 1963, there was a march in Washington. It brought more than two hundred thousand people together. A year later, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

Martin Luther King, Jr. was a man who stood up for himself, even in times of trouble. He was courageous, brave, determined, patient, understanding, open-minded, and he had a good attitude. Martin Luther King, Jr. never gave up. He inspired people around the world to stand up for what they believe in, to speak with confidence, and to never give up. That is why I chose Martin Luther King, Jr. as my hero.
