Mrs. Leah Quidez

by Leanne Quidez from Swift Current, Saskatchewan in Canada

144592Me and my Beautiful Hardworking Mothercamera roll

My mom is my hero because she is my everything. Why is that you may ask? She provides me with guidance, endearment, is a great role model, and has always been there for me. She is the reason why I never give up in my life, and she gives me a reason to live for and never give up on something. She also takes care of her three kids and tries her best to keep everyone in the household happy every time, while I myself can see her stressed out with plenty of things.

My mother Leah Quidez has taught me confidence and reliance in myself. My mom lives in Saskatchewan, Canada since 2011. She was born in Urdaneta, Pangasinan Philippines. I sense miserable feelings every single day because my mom really never grew up with a mother (grandma) beside her. My grandma died when my mom was only 13 years old, and my mom's little brother died when he was one year old, so I don't really get to see who my uncle really was and experience fun memories with both of them. She only has one family member left, and it's her sister (my cool auntie from Hong Kong). I really despise myself every time I take things for granted with my mom because she never really get to experience love from her own mom in a long time. Sometimes I see my mom cry because of how much strain she's having because she can't really help her sister in Hong Kong because she has to pay for bills and stuff, and it makes me very very unhappy. Back in the Philippines, she was a middle school teacher. She would go to work every day and come home exhausted late at night. We would usually live in my grandpa's home with my auntie, and my auntie would usually take care of us while my mom was at work or have hair appointments.

This hero is very important to me because my mom and dad have brought me into this world, and while I was growing up my mom was always there for me because when I was younger my dad was in Canada working and sending us money, presents, chocolates, clothes, and toys to help us out in the Philippines! With my dad's help, we got a tutor to teach us new things and how to speak English every single day. My mom would always pack us lunch, go on the boat with us on the way to school, teach us high-grade things from school since she used to be a teacher, take us to festivals, museums, parks, and every new year we gather as a family and light fireworks. But I used to be scared of fireworks because they make those gun sound noises, and for me, I didn't enjoy it as much. Seeing my mom experience so much pressure makes me feel useless myself because I am only 17 years old and still in high school, and I have too much more to experience, but I really want to help my parents out already so I can see them be really happy again.

My mom was there for me since day one, and I won't lie to you, I was a troublemaker. I never really listened to anyone when I was younger, and looking back at it I regret it so much. My mom was there every time for me, and until now at this part of being a teenager, I was very desolate with my teen life as a 15- to 17-year-old. She told me to keep going since it is okay to fail, or if you don't succeed you only live once so why not keep doing things and make it perfect, you know? Make her and my grandparents proud so I can help them out in the future. Sometimes moms can annoy you too, all the things you have can have flaws and different backgrounds, so you really can't judge if you don't know what's going on in someone's life. She taught me how to drive for the first time and let me use her car to keep practicing how to perfectly drive so I can pass my first road test, but it didn't turn out like how I expected it to be! I passed my second try though so that's awesome! All thanks to my mom, I can drive myself to appointments, hangouts, drive my siblings to errands, and to school!

I am proud to be my mom's first daughter because I can be a good role model to my other two siblings and help out my mom to pay bills, buy food and stuff because she helps me out with a lot of things! And even when I am broke, she pays for my debt. I am very thankful I still have my parents right by my side and sticking by my side every time. I sometimes disobey them... they're always there for me. I am extremely proud of where my mom is with her workout/yoga stuff! I am pretty sure she is happy with the body she has now, and it makes me jolly seeing her fit and healthy! If my mom ever reads this, I love her so much and I appreciate what you do every time even if I don't show it. I am going through a lot right now and I am sorry if I cant help with a lot of struggles at home.
