My grandma, granddad, and father

by Tina Thomas from Columbia, Missouri in United States

Who is a hero in my eyes? My grandma, granddad, and father. These three together can accomplish anything. First of all, my grandmother is a strong, independent, hardworking woman. She is a strong woman to be able to handle a big family like ours. She raised four kids plus me, her grandchild. I watched my grandma get up in the morning and cook breakfast for seven people that are in the household. I watched her clean up time after time behind everyone. My grandmother was a very independent woman as well; she had a job cleaning bank, and she had her own boutique to run. She ran her boutique during the day and cleaned banks and other buildings at night. I can say she faithfully took care of all her responsibilities as a wife, mother, and grandparent. She taught me to be an independent, on-time type of person in life because she always told me nothing comes to a sleeper. She always taught me to go for whatever goals that I want and keep pushing towards the goals that I want in life. My grandma was a hard worker when it came to all her different roles in her life; she loved taking care of her family. She just showed me that no matter what happens in life, you can't give up on any of your goals. And far as my grandfather, he took good care of me as well. He showed me that a man is supposed to support his wife and kids. As I grow up that's all I see him doing is supporting. My father has always been my hero as well. I watch him take care of me and help my grandmother and grandfather with anything they need help with. I watch him get up and go to work every day. Regardless of the things that he was going through with my mother, he still made time for me and his parents that were always there for him. Second of all, my grandfather worked for the railroad for years. I watched him get up around 5:00 every morning getting ready for work. I learned that my grandfather was a hardworking man that loved his family and worked hard to make sure his family had everything they needed. He always told me that a real man takes care of his family and does not watch them struggle. I learned that my grandfather was the breadwinner of the family. My grandfather made sure the family had food, clothing, and a warm home to live in. My grandfather always told me that a real man provides for his family never let a man use you as his doormat. My grandfather was a real hero in my eyes. Third of all, my father was my third hero. Even though my father and mother were not on good terms, he still made sure that she was secured with a house and a car. In my eyes, he was a real hero because through all that he and my mom was going through, he still treated life like there weren't any problems. My mom wasn’t the best when it came to her marriage with her and my father. She was young and still ready to party. My mom wasn't ready to settle down. Basically, she always ran the streets with her friends and partied. So me as a child seeing her leave and not come home led me to feel like she didn’t want this family with my father. But although she was doing this to us, my father still stood strong to keep me and his life together, and he kept pushing for his goals to take care of his responsibilities no matter what the situation was. To me, my father was a strong hero that never gave up on himself or his family. Fourth of all, my best days were spent with all three of my heroes. All three of my heroes were hard-working people who took care of their responsibilities and made sure their family was cared for and fed, plus a warm place to stay. I grew up with my aunt and uncle, watching them follow in my granny, grandpa, and father’s footsteps taking care of their families and homes. I learned as long as you have love, care, and family support, you can and will get through all hard times in life. A fifth of all, having a strong dependent family has shown me to grow to be a dependable, strong, and responsible parent and wife for my family. I get up every morning cooking breakfast for my family because I know breakfast is the most important healthy meal to start the day. While they are eating breakfast I go and make their beds and straight their rooms. I also make sure they take their showers and brush their teeth for their hygiene to be kept up. The moral of my story is being raised by my three heroes, my grandma, granddad, and father, has taught me a lesson to be very dependant, responsible, and respectful of yourself and others, and your life will become the life you love, and sticking together as a family makes life more loving as you grow together.
