This drawing represents my grandpa who I see as my hero. Ever since the passing of my grandma 2 years ago he has been there for me through my struggles, makes me laugh when I'm feeling down, and has shown how brave he can be to go through something like that. My grandpa is from Mexico and was born in a city near Sahuayo, Michoacan and every year he would go in the summer to celebrate a festival called "Las fiestas de patron Santiago." I decided to add a Tlahualile behind my grandpa in the drawing, something known in Sahuayo to represent defeated warriors. In the festival, the warriors follow and dance with Apostle Santiago who was a Spanish military warrior who never attacked Mexico because he loved it there. This represents my whole family because going to the festival is a tradition that has been passed down for generations. My grandpa is one of the last and oldest members of our family. He is someone who is a source of inspiration who has made me proud of my culture and traditions that make me who I am.
