A lot of people would say that a superhero is someone with extraordinary powers; flying, stopping a bus with one hand, making things float in the air, being fast as lightning, or let's just call that someone, superman. We all know him from the movies.

Well, my hero is different.

He is a lot stronger, braver, and he has saved a lot of people too. If you would ask me for a proof, just ask the people he met and let them tell you how their lives have changed for the better. Yes, FOR THE BETTER. My dad is a soul winner, in the midst of all these worldly chaos, he remained rooted to his faith to the Lord.

That is my Dad. My Dad Ulysses Mariño. (Tall, kinda dark, super handsome, and the kindest person you'll ever meet.)

He lives far far away from me, and this platform is a way for me to convey how truly grateful I am for my dad. His mere existence in my life reminds me of how good the Lord is.

Let me tell you why . . .

Not a lot of people know that my dad has saved me from falling into pitch black misery. All my life, I have longed for a complete family but as they say it, you don't always get what you want. Sometimes, I struggle to understand how this world works, how it can be so unfair. I used to look at other people's lives, how happy they were with their families. These thoughts bothered me until I was old enough to understand.

It even came to a point where I despised the thought of having a family of my own, because it's scary. I don't want another child to feel the way that I did. I was on a solid ground of belief that it's okay to grow old alone. HAHAHAHA (i know my dad would laugh at this)

But when I met my dad Uly, everything changed. EVERYTHING.

I saw it in him, how someone can be so patient, kind, understanding, positive, loving, funny, and all the good things a man could be. My dad, even without saying a word, has lifted my faith, he saved me from pitch black, and because of dad I found a father. Someone who has my back, someone who will remind me that I am loved and cared for. That's how my superhero came to be.
