Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela was born on July 18, 1918, and died on December 5, 2013. He was born in Johannesburg in South Africa. He was a politician and a lawyer.

Nelson Mandela was an activist. He fought against the system called apartheid. He organized specific meetings to protest against the white minority who had the power in South Africa. He was sent to jail for 27 years, and when he was released, he was elected president of South Africa, and he was the first black president in South Africa.

Nelson Mandela was very determined because despite the fact that he was in prison for 27 years, he wasn't angry against white people and he continued to fight for an equal system. He was also bright because he managed to get a lawyer job and he had daring ideas for his times.

I've choose Nelson Mandela because for me he's a true hero. He fought against "the baddies," not like the baddies in a comic version but real baddies: some people who don't want things to change and continue to believe in a racist and unequal system. Nelson Mandela never betrayed his ideas. Even when he was in captivity, he never renounced of his aim. And finally he managed his action and there was a happy ending.
