At first, the idea of joining iEARN and the My Hero Learning Circle was quite daunting to me as a teacher - and to my students, who would have to put their Englishskills, learnt as a second language in the classroom, to use on the internet; to compose a story to be read by countless people on the web and to correspond with other learners of a second language.
After much deliberation, preparation and e-mails from Wendy, the project came to fruition with the completed stories displayed on our very own page. My students were at first unhappy with the extra workload the project gave them but, after a couple of weeks, they enjoyed searching the web looking for information on theirheroes and composing their own stories.
Whilst all this was going on, my students and myself enjoyed corresponding with our Circle partners, learning about their cultures and habits. It was stimulating for all concerned.
