“Not only did he master these styles, he was a pioneer in each of these movements, and influenced the styles to follow throughout the 20th century, from the initial works he created” (Pablo Picasso Biography). Pablo Picasso’s unique artistic style and determination caused him to influence art in a huge way. Pablo Picasso was one of the most talked about artists in the 20th century. He painted, drew, and made sculptures, in a way no one had ever seen before. He also developed an artform called, “Cubism”. A hero must be confident, and unique in their own way, to reach their goal. Pablo Picasso majorly influenced 20th century art with his unique artistic perspective, and his determined mindset, thus making him a hero.
wikiart.orgPablo Picasso was a hero because his unique art forms influenced today’s artists in a big way. Picasso’s art form, “Cubism” was something like no other: “What Picasso made of Cubism was something quite different from Braque's cool geometric constructions; he often produced paintings that seemed to resemble an image seen in a cracked mirror or through a broken window, and pictures of women with parts of their faces rearranged” ("Pablo Picasso." Contemporary Hispanic Biography,). This quote is explaining what his art-form was like, and how most people saw it. Most people saw it as something wacky, but later on became one of the most influential forms of art at the time. This art-form that he created would go on to influence upcoming artists like David Hockney, Roy Lichtenstein, and Jackson Pollock. Even from early on, Picasso had a unique style when it came to sculptures too. “The idea of affixing objects to a painting with glue was radical in 1912. It led to sculptures that had never before been considered. Picasso began the revolutionary technique of creating sculpture out of cut sheet metal and wire” (Petersen, Jennifer B. “Pablo Picasso.” Great Neck Publishing, 2005.) This talks about how Picasso took his style onto a whole new level, making it more unique than all of the other artists around at the time. This shows that his own spin on things shocked people at the time. This shows that Picasso’s unique style put most critics in awe, causing major influence on 20th century art.
Pablo Picasso was also a hero for his determination. He loved what he did, which was expressing himself. He was determined to be the best at what he did. By the time he died, he had created about 20,000 works of art. Picasso was a hard working artist, and he stayed that way for most of his life; “Part of his success was due to his incredible industriousness and productivity; the French art critic François Charles, according to Picasso biographer Arianna Huffington, told Picasso "for his own good no longer to do a painting a day," but Picasso maintained that breakneck speed over much of his long life” (Pablo Picasso." Contemporary Hispanic Biography, vol. 3). This quote talks about the determination and creativity Picasso had in him, and how he wouldn’t stop to progressing in his career. He always tried to be the best. This is a trait that people look up to, which is why he is considered a hero. Picasso tried the hardest to do what he loved, but at the very start of his career it was hard for him. “Not that he started out that way. In 1900, at age 19, Picasso did what revolutionary artists were supposed to do for career openers: he went to Paris and almost starved” (Plagens, Peter. "Picasso: No. 1 With A Palette). This quote talks about how when Picasso moved to Paris to pursue his career, he almost starved. This quote shows that Pablo Picasso was so determined that he would risk his health, and even his life, to pursue his art career. Pablo Picasso’s determination in his career made him into a hero.
Overall, Pablo Picasso was a international hero to artists all over the world. He was unique, with many revolutionary art styles that influenced artists, and he achieved his overall life goal by working hard, and being determined. Pablo Picasso inspires me to be myself, and not care what others think. Many people shamed his art styles because of how irregular they were to other styles at the time. Picasso didn’t let the criticism get to him, he stuck to his goal, and he ended up really successful, and influential to most. Pablo Picasso was a great artist to people all over the world, and should definitely be recognized as a hero.
