Kurmanjan Datka

I want to write about the great kyrgyz woman whose name was Kurmanjan Datka. She was born in 1811 in the village Mady which is situated in Osh. At the age of 18 she was supposed to be married to a man whom she did not see until her wedding day. When she first met him, she did not like him and gone away to her father's house. Later she married to Alymbek Datka, who was lord of Alai. Due to some political reasons Alymbek Datka was murdered in 1862, in Kokand khanate and Kurmanjan Datka was recognised as ruler of Alai by the khans of Bukhara and Kokand.

In 1876, when Kokand Khanate was captured by Russia, Kurmanjan Datka fought for independence of her nation. Mr. Skobelev, who was that times military chief, understood that Kurmanjan Datka was very respected woman , asked her to persuade her people to join Russia. But her son Alymbek spoke out against Russia and was sentenced to death. In order not to spill blood of all people for the sake of her son, she decided to donate by him. In 1876 Kurmanjan Datka persuaded her nation to accept Russian overlordship and signed a peace agreement .

I think that she has made great deeds for the sake of the Kyrgyz people. Donate your own child in order to avoid bloodshed of thousands of people - is a heroism. If she fought for her son, then Kyrgyz nation would just disappear.Thanks to her determination and wisdom that saved our nationhood.Through peace agreement Kurmanjan Datka saved peace not only between Kyrgyz stan and Russia but she also saved thousands peoples' lives. .
