"There is no room in the United States of America for second-class citizenship. In Uncle Sam's family there are no foster children. All American citizens must enjoy equal rights under law.Discrimination of man against man in any form is repugnant to the ideals which all Americans cherish . (Saund Congressman From India)Saund came to America to earn a graduate degree  in agriculture at UC Berkeley. Saund was born in  September 20, 1899 in Chhajjalwaddi India and passed on  April 23, 1973 in Los Angeles California (Gall, Zia).  Saund came to America in 1920 . "Dalip Singh Saund can be considered a pioneer who helped break down the opposition to citizenship rights for Asian immigrants in the United States and opened up American politics to future generations of Indian Americans." (Then he fell in love with America.  In 1928  Saund got married to Marian Kosa, she attended to UCLA. Under the terms of the Cable Act of 1922 after she got married to Saund she lost her American citizenship when they married.  Saund could not vote but he was interested in American politics. Saund maintained an interest in American political life and, although he was not a citizen and was unable to vote, he joined the Democratic Party after being inspired by the activism of President Franklin Roosevelt on behalf of farmers hard hit by the Depression. Dalip Saund was elected to Congress and brought pride and joy not only to Indian-Americans, but to all Americans. Each of us owes a debt of gratitude to his trailblazing efforts, so that America could continue to be a land of opportunity. Dalip Singh worked hard to became the first Asian American Congressman and helped  others to get freedom.
