Big L

by nick from costa mesa

Big L was an inspired artist from Harlem, his underground style came from the east coast hip hop.Big L's debut solo album, Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous, was released on March 28, 1995.Big L started writing rhymes in 1990 and was in a group called Three The Hard Way, but they wasn't serious so he went solo. Big L's rhymes were starting to change the style of hip hop becuase he was so lyrical and could rap so fast with the crazyest rhymes.

From 1997 to 1999, Big L worked on his second album The Big Picture.Released posthumously on August 2, 2000. It was put together by his manager and partner in Flamboyant Entertainment.Big L was shot and killed in Harlem on the night of February 15, 1999. Gerard Woodley, a childhood friend of Big L, was arrested in May for the crime.

He was a great rapper and lyrical poet. Big L will never be forgotten in the underground hip hop industry. Big L dominated the rap game from the east coast all the west coast hip hop was just exploding with notorious big, dr dre and tupac.

At the time of his death, L had two brothers in prison. "It's a good possibility it was retaliation for something [Big L's] brother did. The bad men that killed Big L they were looking for his older brother that was selling drugs and got caught so he probally sold one dealers out and thats why they wanted to kill him. however they mistaked big l as him and shot him in the head.

The underground hip hop will always put big l in the top of the list of best rappers to come from the east coast. His life was cut way too short like many of the rappers life they were killed. Selling drugs and rapping are not the perfect way to live , but L was the top of all these other fake rappers. If Notorious BIG and Tupac and Big L were all still alive we wouldnt have to deal with these mtv freaks that make money over crump dancing and rapping like souja boy.
