My mom is my hero for many reasons. She has many great skills, talents, and passions that have inspired me. First, my mom is my hero because she always acts selflessly and puts others' needs before her own. For example, my mom would always choose to spend her money to make sure my brother, my sister, and I would have food, clothes, and interesting opportunities before she would buy these things for herself. She also gave a lot of time to us when we were growing up. She would play with us, teach us new things, and take us on adventures even if she was tired or she did not feel like doing those things right then. Now she works at a school where she is also very selfless and giving. She wanted to keep giving her time and energy to help other people learn and grow. I think it is very admirable to be selfless, which is why my mom is my hero.

Another reason my mom is my hero is because she is so creative. A lot of people are sometimes scared to try new things, but my mom loves to make, cook, paint, or invent new things. For example, my mom can cook savory pesto-filled ravioli from scratch, make beautiful carved pottery on a potter's wheel, paint exquisite pictures of nature, and invent games to keep kids busy for hours. Additionally, my mom wrote a book and got her black belt in karate. She has taught me a lot of her creative skills, too! Because of my mom, I have learned that you can always try your best and it's okay if something doesn't turn out perfect because the creative process is so fun.

Finally, my mom is my hero because she does not get discouraged and she keeps going even when things are tough. My mom has had some struggles in her life, and she does not let her sadness stop her from doing good things in the world. When I was in high school, my mom's husband (my stepfather) died suddenly. This could have been a terrible event that made my mom not giving or creative, but she kept living her life and trying to feel better. She does not feel sorry for herself; instead she keeps doing her best to make the world a better, happier place. My mom is my hero because she shows happiness even when times are tough.

For all of these reasons, my mom is a wonderful hero! She is an inspiration for all!
