Debra Kosciesza

  Heroes can be any age; very young, young or old it doesn't matter how old you are, you don't have to necessarily do anything to become a hero, you don't have to wear a cape or have super powers, modern day heroes who aren't fictional exist, heroes are people you; look up too, you idolize or want to be like. My hero is my grandmother Debra Kosciesza, she's an amazing woman, she's been through so much in her life and she's still going strong, she has two beautiful daughters one in which is my mother Merlene, the other being my aunt Krystina she also has two sons named Christopher and Thomas both being my uncles. My grandma has a husband named Thomas hence the name Thomas for my uncle Tommy.

  My grandpa Tom was in The Vietnam War, he came back alive but he also came back with the realization that he had killed children and their mothers, civilians; he came back with some post-traumatic stress disorder but it's minimized over the years, my grandmother has had to help him through the disorder, my grandma has gone through some pretty horrible stuff, with almost losing my grandpa a couple years ago, having to deal with all the surgeries my grandpa has had to go through, not to mention all before she got married to my grandfather, she got pregnant at the age of fifteen giving the infant up for adoption, she has no idea where her son is, or if he is even alive anymore.

  My grandmother deals with the stress of not knowing every day, after all that she got married and divorced, after the divorce she was going to get remarried to my mother's father, but never did; because he had went to prison because she had convinced him to turn himself in, so that he may serve his time and they could be together but before my grandpa Merlin went to prison my grandmother had my mother. My grandpa Merlin then went to prison and while he was in prison, she (my grandmother) met my aunt's father; she ended up having my aunt and not getting married to my mother's dad. After all of this she then met my grandpa Tom, who she had a first date with at a mini-golf course, she thought she was in love but she remembers the past, and wasn't sure.

My grandmother endured all of that at young ages, my grandmother isn't like others, she listens to hip / hop and funky music, she does her hair funky, she enjoys being outside but not gardening, she loves cooking; she makes the best spaghetti, my grandmother is my idol, she is somebody i wouldn't mind being like, she tells me to watch myself when it comes to boys, because of what happened to her (getting pregnant at a young age) I love my grandmother she has taught me so much over the years, I'm only 16 and some teens when they grow up they forget about their parents, grandparents and family, i could never do that, i love my parents and my grandparents, part of that is because they all understand me, but out of all of my family i adore my grandma the most, she understands more, i can talk to her about anything and everything she has ever done was out of love and for me,
