Queen Elizabeth The Second

by Elizabeth Sproule from Toronto, Ontario in Canada

“When life seems hard, the courageous do not lie down and accept defeat; instead, they are all the more determined to struggle for a better future.”

Queen Elizabeth was a great queen; she loved corgis in fact she had 30 corgis from 1952 to 2022. Queen Elizabeth was born on April 21, 1926 and died on September 8,  2022. She actually became queen on February 6, 1952 and reigned for 70 years; in fact, she was the longest reigning on the throne. She was a horse expert and loved to ride them as well.

Queen Elizabeth once said, “When life seems hard, the courageous do not lie down and accept defeat; instead, they are all the more determined to struggle for a better future”. It was inspiring at least for me and it reminds me that when things are hard just keep trying.

When Queen Elizabeth turned 18, she trained as a truck driver and mechanic for the war. Her favorite color was blue and her favorite food was smoked salmon with cream cheese. Her favorite tea was Earl Gray tea, her favorite song was Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven and her favorite horse is a Saskatchewan thoroughbred. But the horse she had ridden the most was a black mare Burmese which she had rode for 18 years.

In the first paragraph, I said that Queen Elizabeth was a great queen and she was, and she was because she cared so much about everyone.  She always tried to do what was right, like when she did public and voluntary service or when her Majesty had links - as Royal Patron or President - with over 500 charities, professional bodies, and public service organizations.

Queen Elizabeth reigned over the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan and Ceylon. She was a great queen in fact she always looked out for everyone. Queen Elizabeth, when she was still Princess Elizabeth, was educated at home. She celebrated two birthdays; she had a personal fashion designer, and one of the jewels in the crown is a diamond from India.

I miss her and I am sure that lots of people do. Of course, since she is not here anymore her oldest child will take her place, which right now is King Charles.

She was married to Prince Philip who died in April 9, 2021 he was 99 when this happened Queen Elizabeth was 96 even though she died a year after this is because Prince Philip was born in 1921 and Queen Elizabeth was born in 1926.

So during the reign of Queen Elizabeth, she had a first state visit to Germany. She had a visit to China. The United Kingdom and Ireland started using decimal coins.

And so that is the end and I hope you can remember that she was one of the best queens so don't forget that and thank you for reading my essay.
