These films took the world by a storm with their box office sales and their edgy, raw, and brilliant content.. Audiences became hungry for more and more films like these. The film industry was never the same after these films. Quentin Tarantino developed a brand new film culture. He had the guts to display what many other filmmakers did not put out. Born in Knoxville, Tennessee on March 27, 1963, Tarantino is a movie obsessed high school dropout and was a video clerk at the famous “Video Archives” in Los Angeles. His first film from 1987, My Best Friend’s Birthday, received very poor ratings and had a very cheap budget. This speed bump in his career did not cause him to give up and he continued to strive towards success. A hero must possess courage and strength in order to succeed and overcome obstacles.  Quentin Tarantino is an American filmmaker who paved the way for film culture by breaking barriers and pursuing excellence.

He paid no attention to the normal standards of a filmmaker. Instead, he developed his own style of acting and overall film production. His first major hit movie Pulp Fiction, took the film culture by a storm. Pulp Fiction gave viewers and filmmakers a brand new idea of what movies can be like. “Tarantino created an unpredictable thrill ride filled with violence and pop culture references” (“Quentin Tarantino”). Tarantino blew minds by displaying what he truly wanted to display. He created his own rulebook, which allowed other filmmakers to follow. Tarantino paid no attention at all to critics and society. He went by his own rules because he didn't care for what other people were making. He stayed true to himself. He was not afraid to break the rules and became a huge inspiration for many others. Tarantino’s Kill Bill  is another excellent example of a raw and risky move that he made without regards to the normal standards of a filmmaker. “Subsequent films like Kill Bill Vols. 1 and 2 enhanced his reputation as someone who could break all the rules, making movies that were simultaneously stylish, exciting and knowingly cheesy, and somehow get away with it” (Mcgrath). Tarantino sparked a sense of thrill and adventure throughout all the minds of his viewers because his content was so unique and exciting. He is well aware of what critics and society thinks of his movies and he understands how they can be contradicting, but he has no fear and carved his own path and created new rules. He does as he pleases and disregards how others choose to perceive him. Even though others wouldn't step foot into this new world of film, he did. Before Quentin Tarantino came into the film scene, there were many areas that filmmakers didn’t dare experiment in. Tarantino took that risk and knocked down the regular standards for American films.

His hard work and unique style brought every viewer a sense of joy, excitement, and adrenaline. He makes his movies come to life with action, drama, and comedy. Movie goers was hungry for more. “The first independent film to gross more than $200 million, Pulp Fiction was a shot of adrenaline to Hollywood’s heart” (Seal and Leibovitz). Tarantino has his eyes set on one goal: pursuing excellence. He isn't in it for the fame or money, but he is in it to inspire, succeed, and spark creativity. He made a name for himself by taking risks and putting in non-stop hard work. He does it for his fans and not for himself. “Inglourious Basterds, the war film directed by Quentin Tarantino in 2009, is one of the biggest American blockbusters till date and earned a whopping $321 million in theaters worldwide” (“Who is Quentin Tarantino?”). Tarantino pursued excellence with his beautiful film works. He is determined to achieve his dream. He is a humble and determined man who did not work for a profit. He makes films because its his passion and love. He pursues excellence not to impress anyone, but to bring the best content to all of his viewers. Tarantino’s hard work brought him great success. He never got lost in fear and he followed his good intentions. He believed in himself and made the dream of pursuing excellence come true.

He set a new standard and became renowned through his hard work. His work has always remained unique. He paved the way for many filmmakers and he inspires people to create film that is true to oneself. His movies convey a valuable message to all viewers and he is a hero to many filmmakers and fans. ¨For someone that’s been so important to cinema and who has contributed to the medium with entries that are now regarded as classics, it’s surprising that he never actually went to film school; in fact, he even dropped out of high school¨ (Curmit). Many young people can feel pressured into completing school in order to please others. Tarantino is an empowering example for people who want to pursue their dreams without being pressured into what others want them to do. He shaped the film culture into what it is today, without getting a degree. Tarantino built his way up in society, and now he has a networth of 100 million dollars. Tarantino holds all the traits which a hero should have: bravery, ability to inspire, passion, confidence, leadership, and so much more. Many people look up to Quentin Tarantino as a leader, not a follower. His movies share creativity and inspiration, and more people continue to look up to him as a hero because of his genuine personality and beautiful works.
