Rakesh Jhaveri (Bapa)

by Ipsa Mankad from RAJKOT in India

127343BapaSRMDHe is my religious leader and has taught me various values such as being good to everyone, the importance of introspection as well as being honest. He lives in Dharampur which is near the Gujarat-Bombay border. He has been given a nickname: Bapa. This signifies that he is a father-like figure to us.

127344Moments with my GuruSRMDBapa gives religious lectures, also known as Satsangs, wherein he analyses human nature and gives solutions to common problems. He has made an aashram in Dharampur, wherein Jains usually stay to follow a simple and humble life. What I adore most about him is his simplicity, despite being very famous. He impacted me when I met him for the first time. He smiled at me and told me that he really liked how open I was with strangers. After contacting him four or five times, I began feeling peace around him.

The picture above is from one of the summer camps conducted by him, wherein he tries to instill values in children even when they're still connected to the world. He looks at me with eyes filled with love and hope. He also told me to sing songs for him. I also adore him for the fact that he turns child-like with children. Another thing that I love about him is that he always wears the same clothes and lives the simplest of life with the simplest of food and completely devoted to religion.

One time, when I was around him, I began to cry. I did not know why. But even though I did not tell him, he understood and asked me what was wrong. From that incident, he has become my hero, my inspiration, my guru.
