Roger Lalande

by Auguste from Laguna Beach, Calif.

My grandpa
My grandpa

My hero is my grandpa. His full name is Roger Lalande. He was born in 1924 in France. Now I am going to talk about him. At the beginning of World War II, he lived on a farm.

During World War II, he was a liason officer in Dordonge. A liason officer is someone who delivers messages from a group to another group. His only weapons were a micrayet and a grenade.

On June 13,1943, some Germans shot at him, but they all missed. On another night, he had to sleep on a grave.

After World War II, he became a teacher in Algeria and he met my grandma. Later, he had to go back to France.

My grandpa is my hero because he did something big and he survived. A hero to me is someone who does something big.
