She is born on September 8, 1954 in Tylertown in Mississippi. She is an American civil rights activist. She lives now in New Orleans and she is chair of the Ruby Bridges Foundation founded in 1999.

She inspired Norman Rockwell for his painting "The problem we all live with". On the image we can see the small black girl escorted by four white men. Around Ruby, tomatoes are thrown by the other students.

1334641960https://www.loc.gov/exhibits/brown/images/br0148s-th.jpgShe is the bravest child I know because when she arrived in the school, all the kids insulted her and threw tomatoes. However she had never cried. After that Ruby was the only child with her teacher because all the kids had left for another school. At the end of the year they came back but many were forbidden to talk with Ruby. She was almost the kindest of children because she understood and she was not angry.

I select her as hero because she was just a little girl of 6 years and she managed to stay strong and to never give up. She allowed a generation of black students to go to school and she made a huge impact on the American society.
