Wilma Rudolph

by Rachel from Garland

"The one that made it."

Wilma Rudolph is like the superman of our time. She had to suffer to be where she is right now. She had a disease called polio when she was a child and it twisted her leg in a spiral, so she couldn't participate in any sports activities.

Wilma Rudolph was in a wheelchair until she was six years old and then she got fitted with a metal leg brace, but she still couldn't be in sports.

Well, one day she got tired of being left out, so she took off her brace and walked down the hall of her church. Now, she is an Olympic gold medal winner.
