Susan B. Anthony

by Katherine from St. Paul

Anthony was a part of the women's suffrage movement. Anthony did not think it was right for men to have more rights than women or slaves. She did not agree with slavery. Once Anthony voted and was brought to court because it was illegal for a woman to vote. Anthony thought that women should be able to vote. She tried to get the government to agree with her and other women suffragists that women should have the right tovote, the right to divorce bad husbands and the right to keep their children if they got a divorce.

Anthony's partner in the women's suffragist movement was Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Before Anthony tried to make other changes in the world, she thought that she should get the vote for women first. Anthony was a part of many women's rights conventions.

Anthony was born in 1820 in Massachusetts. Fourteen years after she died, women won the right to vote.
