Oprah Winfrey was born January 29, 1954 in Kosciusko, Mississippi at 7:51 pm est.  She was the only child of Vernita Lee & Vermon Winfrey.

Oprah, born into a very poor family, was left to be raised by her grandmother.  Living with her grandmother is the reason she was reading and writing at age three.  When Oprah was nine years old she was molested by a nineteen year old who was supposed to be babysitting her.  Not too long after that, a family friend molested her. Her mother's boyfriend  did the same. She was bounced from family member to family member.  Also at the age of fourteen she ended up getting pregnant.  Her son was ill so he did not make it.  During her years in college she was offered a job as a co-anchor on CBS.  In 1985 she got the job as her own TV show host.

Oprah demonstrated heroism when she became the first African American to host a television show.  She inspired everybody to be themselves.  She was the first woman in history to host and produce her own show.  She is one of the very many women in the Woman's Hall of Fame.

Oprah is the co-producer of Oxygen.  She is the founder of "O" a lifestyle magazine.  Winfrey founded a school in South Africa for women.  She has reportedly been in a relationship with Stedman Graham for over a decade.
