Selena Quintanilla

Selena Quintanilla-Perez is the woman I have chosen to write about today. Selena is a Latin/American songwriter and singer. She became very popular over the past years she has been alive. Born April 16, 1971 in Lake Jackson, Texas, United State with wonderful parents, Abraham Quintanilla and Marcella Samora, with her siblings A.B. Quintanilla and Suzette Quintanilla. Unfortunately she passed away at a young age and many people were disappointed March 31,1995 at 23.

The reason I have chosen her is because she inspires Latin Americans all over the world to defeat and ignore the racist people who accused and made fun of Spanish girls and boys. Many people looked up to her because of the way she would stand up for  people who speaks different languages and had different skin colors. She believed that just because she was multicultural she still had to be treated like a human being and that anyone who was feeling the same way had to feel that too. When she went shopping and was trying on dresses the women working at the front desk thought just cause she was Spanish that she couldn't buy the high end dress. After a man walked in and his eyes widened and yelled ‘’OMG IT'S SELENA’’. In the matter of seconds the mall found out and barged in. All of her fans asked for autographs and after it cleared up the women gave her the dress but she declined.

 In 1992 she got married to a man by the name of Chris Perez. They met when he was going to play guitar for her singing career and then they started going out. Eventually they got married April 2. They were married for 3 years until she passed away in 1995. Chris was so upset and heartbroken because he explained on tv that was the only serious relationship he had.

In March 21,1995 the movie Selena came out for the memories of her. The movie starred famous Jennifer Lopez and some of her real family. This movie has won many awards for best acting and best movie it really touched lots of people's hearts mostly the people who loved Selena and the fans that will never forget her and know that she will always be in their hearts. Now here is a phrase many people used for singers who passed there are singing with the angels.

Now how did Selena die? Well there were many money issues with her manager. Basically her manager was taking money from her and cashing out Selena's checks to keep the money for herself. When Selena found out she was doing this she fired her. Yolanda was very mad so when Selena was performing her last concert before she had her baby. Yolanda Saldivar shot her and she was taken to the ER but sadly Selena did not make it. She passed away at 11:00pm.

Many fans were sad and Yolanda was arrested for 20 years. In the middle of her town they put pictures of her and flowers and candles and sang her song Dreaming of You.
