¨I just wish people would realize that anything is possible if you try; dreams are made possible if you try.¨

I chose Terry Fox as my hero because he didn't really care if he had cancer, he just wanted all others to not have to suffer. The book, ¨Terry Fox a story of hope¨ is a biography. This book is 29 pages long and it covers the time from when he was a boy up to when he died. It was published in 2005. Terry Fox is a Canadian athlete, and he had a lot of hope.

Terry Fox was born in Manitoba, Winnipeg, but he grew up in British Columbia. Terry had two brothers and one sister. His parentś names are Rolly and Betty Fox. Terry Fox went to school at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby Mountain Campus. When he was not in school, he loved to pick blueberries, play roughhousing with his father and brothers, do summer jobs and sometimes he liked being alone for a bit. Terry was in love with all kinds of sports. He played soccer, baseball and rugby. He also competed in track and field and he did cross-country running, but all he really wanted to do was play basketball. Terryś dream was to become a professional basketball player, but he wasn't very good at first. No-one even began to think that he was going to try to run across Canada with one leg at the age that he was, not even Terry.
Summer
A major challenge that Terry faced was when he lost his leg because of cancer. Another challenge for him was all the pain he had when he was running. He also faced the cancer that had come back. Terry overcame all of these challenges with hope, determination and just plain miracles. People all over Canada made a one dollar donation to help Terry on his run. It came to a total of more that 24 million dollars!! Some qualities that he had was that he had courage because he was determined to run across Canada even with one leg. He was caring because he wanted to stop the suffering from cancer everywhere. Lastly, he was hopeful because of his whole journey!! Terryś weakness was that he had only one leg and that he had cancer. It made it very difficult for Terry to run. It was very sad for everybody when he died. Terry won the Lou Marsh trophy, the Canadian Newsmaker Of The Year and The Persons Of National Historic Signatures.
I learned that Terry died from Metastatic Osteosarcoma. It surprised me that he grew up in British Columbia. 3 Questions that I would ask Terry if he was here is, ¨What was it like running with one leg?¨, ¨What is your favorite food?¨ and ¨What was going through your mind while you were running?¨ I would want to be Terryś child because he would be a great person to look up to and I would always remember him. I liked this book because it had a lot of information about him, especially his youth. I also did not like the book because it did not have some of the information I needed. I learned that when he was a boy he loved play fighting with his family. A lesson I think I learned was to never give up on my dreams and always believe in myself. Others may not like to read this book because they might think it is boring to read. Others might like this book because they like fact books about famous people. I am happy that I chose this book because Terry is my hero and it gives me a lot of information about him. I would definitely consider Terry Fox as a hero AND a role model because of how selfless he was.
