The Arrow Group by David Basasira

Title: The Arrow Group Artist: Basasira David Mukasa Description: Inspiration & Associated Story Open Vision Youth Club, Entebbe, Uganda, EA In Uganda we’ve been experiencing civil wars but the one that broke out in 1986 has produced results our people have never seen, heard and even dreaming of. The civil war is led by Kony a rebel leader who instructs his soldiers to cut off people’s ears, hand, legs and even eyes. The government promised to end the war very soon but it failed. This propelled the youth to mobilize themselves to fight Kony despite the fact that they used spears and shields instead of guns which he is equipped with. The boys of Teso formed a group called; Arrow Group. The courage exhibited to fight an armed rebel leader inspired me to produce this artwork.
