Well Thomas Jefferson was one of the many people who helped fight for our freedom. He actually had one of the most important roles. He helped write the Declaration of Independence! Are you sure he wrote it, or did he help write? He helped clarify to all the countries in the world that America is now a country!
Thomas Jefferson was born on April 13, 1743 in Charlottesville, Virginia. His mom and dad were Peter and Jane-Randolph Jefferson. Thomas Jefferson’s dad was a successful surveyor and planter. What was his mom? Thomas had six other sisters and one surviving brother. Thomas studied Latin, French, and Greek in school.
Thomas Jefferson was a very big politician and was a big part of his community. At the time of the Revolutionary War, Thomas was the governor of Virginia. Thomas was a very peaceful man and never wanted to fight. When the British came to Monticello he and his troops were unprepared and England took over. Over time Thomas got bad news that the British were after him and were in Charlottesville. He used his telescope to see where they are heading. He joined his family in hiding and later he was found to be safe from the British.
In the later years Thomas was the Vice President for John Adams and later became our 3rd President. Thomas also was a Democratic and Republican party. Later on Thomas retired from President and became weaker by the day. Later on Thomas died on July 4, 1826 in Monticello. In the 1900s he became a sculpted figure on Mt. Rushmore in South Dakota.
