I got the inspiration for my artwork, “True Blue” when I learned about World War I and World War II. The artwork represents the dedication of the soldiers and what they stand for. When I think of each soldier's heart, blue is a proper color for their loyalty to their country. The hand reaching out represents the emotion of their loved ones who couldn’t reach further enough and who are waiting at home missing their sons, husbands, fathers, and friends. I can’t imagine the feelings that everyone might have during the war. I don’t know how I would have felt if I was a little French girl then missing my papa. So I drew a little face looking out of a window that represents a child waiting for her dad to come home. I believe in my heart that all soldiers and their loved ones are the true blues.
