Today I’m going to teach you about Ulysses S Grant, and how he was a big HERO. He was a great general for us in the Civil War. He helped stop slavery.

He was born on April 27, 1822. His hometown was Ohio. He loved to ride horses, and he could stand up on one at age 7.

He had to go to a military academy. There he got mad and hit a horse, but he was sorry. He went into the army, and then he became a general. After that he became president in 1872. He was an awesome president.

He changed society by winning us a lot of battles in the Civil War. Without him we wouldn't be the same country. We would probably have slavery. He helped put an end to slavery. Slavery is a terrible thing.

Ulysses S Grant was a great general and president. Then everybody loved him. We should admire him too. Then he passed away. He did a lot for our country, just think about how much.
