Wayne Gretzky was born and raised in Brantford, Ontario. He was born January 26,1961. Wayne Gretzky's dad’s name was Walter Gretzky and his mom’s name was Phyllis Gretzky. They had five kids named Brent, Glen, Keith, Kim and Wayne. Wayne Gretzky attended an elementary school in Brantford Ontario.He would play ice hockey before and after school and on the weekend he would play ice hockey from 8AM-6PM. Wayne Gretzky scored 378 goals in his final season of peewee hockey. He started his NHL career when he was 17 years old. Some of the people who influenced him were Walter Gretzky, Glen Sather and Gordie Howe. He wanted to play professional hockey when he grew up. In 1974 at the age of 13, he scored his 1000th lifetime goal in a exhibition game.

People kept calling him names over and over so that made him stronger.  His dad was the main contributor of his career by building a outdoor hockey rink. Wayne Gretzky was a true leader. He has proven this by leading the Edmonton Oilers to 4 out of 5 Stanley Cups. One of Wayne’s saddest moments was when he got traded to L.A Kings. He has won many awards such as the Hart Trophy, the Lady Byng Trophy, the Conn Smythe Trophy, the Art Ross Trophy, the Ted Lindsay Award, the Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year Award, the World Cup of Hockey and Olympic Gold Medals and many, many more.

How old were you when you first started skating? Did you ever get into a hockey fight?I would want to be Wayne Gretzky’s child because he’s an inspiration to fans. I enjoyed reading the book because I learned more about the Great One. It also taught me how many goals he scored in his NHL career. I would practise, play hard and never give up to accomplish my goals. Some people might not like this book because it’s about hockey and some people don’t like hockey. I am happy I choose this book because he is the best player in hockey. I would consider Wayne Gretzky as a role model because of what he means to the game of hockey.
