Irish poet, one of the most significant figures of 20th-century literature
William Butler Yeats, an Irish poet and playwright, was one of the most influential figures in 20th century literature. An early fascination for Irish folklore and mysticism influenced his work:
CUMHAL called out, bending his head,
Till Dathi came and stood,
With a blink in his eyes, at the cave-mouth,
Between the wind and the wood.
