Wilma Rudolph and Martin Luther King Jr.

Wilma Rudolph was born in 1940 in Bethlehem,Tenn. She had nineteen older brothers and sisters. Before Wilma Rudolph turned five she got sicker than ever before. When Wilma was six years old she needed help to walk again.

If a brother or sister had a cold,she got double pneumonia.

Did you know that people wanted segregation and some didn’t? Some black and white people did want to be separated and some wanted to get along with each other. Martin Luther King Jr. started many groups to help black people and white people.

Did you know that Martin Luther King Jr. gave powerful speeches and the country heard and liked his ideas? Martin Luther King Jr. led African American people in peaceful marches, and some people around the country watched.
