Alexander Graham Bell is a scientist that advanced the world and helped his community. He made inventions like the telephone that advanced people's lives. He has taught people lessons and received huge honors. Alexander Graham Bell is one of the best scientists and a true hero.

Alexander Graham Bell's childhood was the spark of his of his amazing career. Alexander Graham Bell was born on March 3rd 1847, Edinburgh, Scotland. When he was child Alexander did not go to school. Instead he was homeschooled by his mother. When he was he had found a fascination in words and language. He was very young when he first encountered scarlet fever as a child. He was sick but did survive it. Surprisingly, when Alexander was a child he only had fair grades in school, he was more interested in doing his own experiments. He did not do bad but he also didn't excel in subjects such as mathematics and English. Lastly, when Alexander was around ten, he decided that there had been so many people named Alexander in his family and that he wanted to change his name. So he chose the surname Alexander Graham. Alexander Graham Bell's childhood was the start of his exciting life.

Alexander Graham Bell was an amazing inventor with some excellent contributions. One contribution he made was he invented the first ever telephone in 1876. The telephone allowed human voice to travel through a wire, he showed it at the worlds fair. When Alexander Graham Bell saw the telephone working he said a famous quote which was, "Mr. Watson, get over here!" He also invented a vacuum jacket. The vacuum jacket saved people who were struggling to get oxygen. Next, Alexander Graham Bell created the Volto Laboratory to work on his inventions. He was then later became the president of National Geographic. Also, Alexander Graham Bell made was he founded the Aerial Experiment Association. This Association experimented and made airplanes. Lastly, Alexander Graham Bell's airplane the Red Wing took flight in 1908. It was the first ever public plane flight. Alexander Graham Bell's accomplishments have amazed and advanced the world.

Even though Alexander Graham Bell had a very successful career he had some huge obstacles as well. First, both of his two brothers died when they were very young. Their names were Teddy and Edward. Also, when Alexander Graham Bell's third son was born he named him Edward after his brother. Second, a few hours after he was born Alexander's son Edward passed away. Another tragic event was that Gardiner Hubbard, Alexander Graham Bell's father in-law, passed away in 1897. Then a few years after that in 1905 Alexander's father, Alexander Melville Bell, died. Alexander Melville Bell was Alexander's father. Also, many people claimed that Alexander Graham Bell was not the original inventor of the telephone. They believed that he stole the idea from other inventors. This made him mad because he knew that he was the actual inventor. Finally, Alexander's friend Charles Manly stopped inventing because Alexander Graham Bell faced many challenges.

Alexander Graham Bell helped out the community in many ways. First, Alexander helped out the community by teaching deaf private students such as Helen Keller. He taught his deaf students visible speech a way for the deaf to communicate. Also, Alexander founded the AAPTSD (American Association to Promote the Teaching of Speech to the Deaf) which promoted visible speech. Another way Alexander Graham Bell helped the community was with his vacuum jacket which helped people struggling to breathe get oxygen in. Finally, Alexander made a bullet probe which saved thousands of people during wars. Alexander Graham Bell was a real hero of the community.

For all of Alexander Graham Bell's achievements he has earned a lot of awards. First, he won was the central award for his telephone. Second, he was elected as a fellow of the American Arts and Sciences. Another award he got was the Volto prize worth 50,000 franks or 10,000 dollars for his invention of the telephone. He was elected to be a member of the National Academy of Sciences. Alexander was also given the Albert Prize from the society of Arts of London, England for his telephone. Lastly, Harvard granted Alexander Graham Bell an honorary Doctor of Laws degree. Alexander Graham Bell has received many honors for his accomplishments.

Alexander Graham Bell has many traits that he has shown throughout his life. First, Alexander Graham Bell has perseverance. He shows this trait when his inventions do not work and he kept working on them until they worked just as he wanted them to. Another trait he shows is that he is focused. He displays this trait when he works on his inventions all night long in order to perfect them. Alexander Graham Bell also shows determination. When his bullet probe did not work on president Garfield. When this happened he kept working on it and it saved thousands of people during wars. Those are Alexander Graham Bell's traits

I have learned that there is no success without failure from Alexander Graham Bell. Alexander Graham Bell experienced this when he was using his bullet probe on president Garfield. The bullet probe did not work and it was reacting over too big of an area. It was reacting because of the metal in the bed. People said it was partially his fault that president Garfield had died. Later Alexander Graham Bell perfected the bullet probe. The bullet probe was later used to save thousands of soldiers during wars. Alexander Graham Bell has taught me the lesson there is no success without failure.
