Angela Yvonne Davis was born on January 26, 1944 in Birmingham, Alabama. She started joining the Civil Rights Movement, Communist Party USA, and the Black Panther Party in the early 1960s. Angela Yvonne Davis, her siblings are Ben Davis, Fania Davis Jordan, Reginald Davis, her mother Sallye Davis, and her father Frank Davis. She graduated at the Brandeis University in Massachusetts in the late 1960’s, she studied philosophy there, Herbert Marcuse inspired her, and she also studied philosophy too.
Angela was a teacher, a writer, and an activist. She won a peace prize for her Civil Rights Movement; she was in Communist Party USA, the Black Panther Party, and the Civil Rights Movement. Angela wrote four books Women, Class, Race, and Are Prisons Obsolete. She was hired to teach at University of California. Angela was the speaker at the Martin Luther King Jr. celebration.

Angela grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. Dynamite Hill was where she lived with her family. She attended Carrie A. Tuggle Elementary school, and then she went to Parker High school. Angela went to all black schools. When she grew up she became a professor at the University of California.
