Albert Einstein

by Brooke from Oxnard

My hero is Albert Einstein, the scientist. Albert Einstein was an amazing person besides being a scientist. He is my hero because he inspires me to always try my best.

Albert's mother introduced him to music and he was a fine violinist. When he was ten years old he was set into self education and he read about science as much as he could. When he was fifteen, his family moved from Munich, Germany to Pavia, Italy, but Albert stayed to finish his school year. Albert managed to skip high school and go to take a Swiss Polytechnic exam. But he failed because of his poor French and bad cooperation with the teachers. Then his family sent him back to finish high school. Then Albert graduated from high school at age seventeen, and enrolls for the ETH (the federal polytechnic) in Zurich.

Then Albert falls in love with Mileva Maric, a Hungarian student, also part of the ETH. Then Albert graduated from the ETH, and became a Swiss citizen, and looks for work. He finds work in Switzerland as a tutor, and Mileva becomes pregnant and goes back to Hungary, and gives birth in her parents' home, and she has a girl , but they put her up for adoption. Albert finds work in the Swiss patent office, but then Albert's father gets sick and dies. Mileva gives birth to a boy. Albert's "Miracle year" was the year where he made his famous equation, mass and energy formulates e=mc2. Albert writes a letter to President Franklin D.Roosevelt to make the atomic bomb, and drop it on Hiroshima. Then Albert writes a second letter to President Franklin D. Roosevelt about the bomb not to be dropped, but then the president died and letter was not even opened! Then Albert heard about the destruction in Hiroshima. Albert was ashamed and sad.

He died on April 16, 1955, because of heart failure. Albert was a great scientist, he believed in the power of imagination."Violence cannot bring peace, but understanding can." -Albert Einstein.
