I think a hero is someone who has faith and feels free even if they are not free. I also think a hero is someone who is brave, friendly, and inspiring and sometimes even risks their own life. They are also usually very joyful too. My hero has all of these qualities.
My hero is Anne Frank. Her full name is Annelies Marie Frank. She was born on June 12, 1998 in Germany in a city called Frankfurt. Her mother's, father's, and sister's names were Edith, Otto, and Margot. Anne Frank's favorite games to play were hide and seek and tag. Now let's skip to when it was during World War II and Jews were being treated badly by the Nazis. World War II began on September 3, 1939. But Anne Frank was Jewish! Then one night Margot received papers telling her to report to the SS- the Nazi political police- the very next day. Right before she had to move into the annex, (which was in her Grandmother's house ) she had to give her cat, Moortje, away to the neighbors. Later on there were eight people living in the annex. In hiding, she learned languages, math, geography, and history. For her birthday, she got a diary and called it “Kitty”. But she once wrote in her diary “I long to ride a bike, dance, whistle, look at the world, feel young and know I'm free, and yet I can't let it show.” Then one night in April 1944 the men heard burglars breaking into the annex below and went down investigate. The thieves ran away but two neighbors heard noises and also came to check. Worst of all , the police turned up. They looked 911 over the building arrived at the annex. When the police arrived at the offices in Prinsecgracht, they knew exactly were to look. They found us and we were arrested. They were in hiding for over two years. They were taken to prison camps at Westerbook near a German border on August 8,1944. Then Margot and Anne were taken to a different camp. Margot died somewere in Febuary or March. Anne died soon after. Edith died soon before World War II ended. But Otto was one of the few survivers. When they were fouund in the annex Anne had left her diary and somebody found it and gave it back to Otto and he published it. Now it has been published over 30 languages! But even if Anne Frank didn't survive World War II, her writing did.
Anne Frank especially and her friends and family risked their lives in the annex. They wouldn't even dare to turn on water or flush a toilet at daytime, and even if something dropped or the floor creaked somebody could have thought someone was there. They had to whisper all day too. Anne Frank also had to not just face her fears, she had to live in a fear. She would have had to be brave and would have to have faith in herself. She also had to sacrifice that she couldn't see the world everyday and couldn't get any fresh air.
Anne Frank is related to me because we both like tag and hide and seek, we both like to give nick-names to our belongings, and we both celebrate Hanukkah. Anne Frank inspired me because she didn't just have to face her fear, she had to live in it! She also had to be brave for two reasons. 1: She had to give her cat, Moortje away to the neighbors. 2: She couldn't go outside at all for over two years and also couldn't turn on water, flush a toilet, and they couldn't even let anything drop or let the floor creak and they had to whisper all day! She also inspired me to feel free when I am.
