Al Gore is an environmentalist who used to be vice-president of the USA. He also ran for the presidency but was beaten by George Bush. In 2007 he won the Nobel Peace Prize. I found out about him by watching his film, An Inconvenient Truth; a documentary about Global Warming.
After the film An Inconvenient Truth was released, it increased awareness about Global Warming and spread the truth to the four corners of the planet, bringing about action from industrialists and politicians.
Al Gore was born on March 31, 1948,he grew up in a Tennessee country farm in the summer and in Washington D.C. He came to love his days on the farm. When he was fourteen his mother read Rachel Carson's 'Silent Spring'. He found out about Global warming at college and has helped to figure out how to stop it.
He is important to me because he has set the path towards an environmental 're-build'. This makes me feel that we have a brighter future for our children.
