Abraham Lincoln

My Definition of a hero is: A hero is a person who has the courage to do the right thing for everyone and everything.

I believe that a concept of a hero can be anyone, anywhere. You don't need super powers and a cape to be a hero; you just need to have the courage to do the right thing for the good of the rest of the world. That definition means what is stated: if you do what is right for the good of the world, you're a hero. Abraham Lincoln is my hero for this project. Lincoln is a hero because he fought for slave's rights. Why? To help get slavery illegal and so they can have their freedom. In this essay I will prove that Abraham Lincoln is a hero because he fought with courage for the good of mankind and the rest of the world.

Abraham Lincoln lived Feb. 12, 1809 to April 14, 1865. He lived in Hardin County, Kentucky Indiana, North Salem, Illinois and Washington D.C. He was trying to help a nation, our nation. Why, because he was doing what he believed was right and what was right. He got America from pretty much everyone in the South to own a slave to believing that enslaving people isn't a good thing. This was important because half of the world went from believing that the Confederates were going to break off and form their own nation. Under Lincoln we became one nation again and he paid for it with his life.

I am going to focus on what he did to help the world. It meets my definition by what he did was for the good of all mankind. He sent soldiers into the South, telling them you must free the slaves. Then war broke out when they said no. He brought the fight to the North when the Confederates broke to the North. The next thing I am going to focus on is The Battle of Gettysburg. It meets my definition because all the people who fought for the north side did what was right for the good of mankind. Many people fought that day. Well thousands died alone, but with the victory, people everywhere had begun to believe that the war was starting to come to an end. Here is an actual quote by Lincoln that he said at the memorial at Gettysburg, "that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain--that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom--and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth." - Abraham Lincoln

His legacy was a life lesson. That everybody on earth no matter what your race or what you are in this world should be treated the same. He fought for civil rights and won. That is what his life lesson is. He left it for everybody for the years to come. Even for people how haven't been born yet.
