Abraham Lincoln

As you probably know Abraham Lincoln was our 16th president. This is not the only reason he is my hero. The main reason Abe is my hero is because he was fair. While he was president there was a great war, the Civil War. This was a horrible war, the nation was divided. Although Abe was born and raised in the North, he sympathized with the African-American slaves and freed them by delivering the Emancipation Proclamation. Abe's fairness was not limited to his presidency, his life was filled with good deeds.

Another attribute that he possesses is citizenship. He was a great citizen because of the offices that he held. He was a legislator, a house representative, a senator, and finally a president. He held these offices to better serve ALL people. When he wasn't in office he was a lawyer. His citizenship was great and he loved his neighbors.

Abe was also very caring. I know this because freed slaves and because of his efforts in Reconstruction. He helped to bring the South back to be one country. He cared about all people and things.

I think Abraham Lincoln falls into the trustworthy category because trustworthiness means honest and his nickname is "Honest Abe". He was honest with friends and co-workers at work. I also know he is trustworthy because when he was young he charged a woman $2.06 for her groceries. Then he realized he only needed to charge her $2.00. So he caught up with the woman and returned the 6 cents.

I know that Abe is also responsible. I know this because he held many offices. To run these offices you must be responsible. Some scholars even say that he was the best president ever.
